Bible passage: Galatians 5
Moses and God’s glory When Moses, the man of God, was on Mount Sinai receiving the 10 Commandments from God, the people of Israel got tired of waiting for him to return and so made a golden calf and worshipped it. God’s anger threatened the continued existence of the nation, and Moses interceded for them. To Moses’ request that God show him his glory, God promised to show Moses His goodness. For that is the glory of God. Thus he proclaimed his name to Moses as Full of Grace (i.e. love) and Faithfulness (i.e. truthfulness). Galatians Galatia is in modern Turkey. Paul preached the gospel there on his first missionary journey. His letter to them is one of the earliest, if not the earliest Christian writing. It is usually dated from the late 40’s to early 50’s in the first century AD. This is within 20 years of Jesus’ death and resurrection.
